Natural Peduncle Silk Combed Top, Spinning Fiber Roving, 2oz

- $15
Natural peduncle silk is a short staple, rich brown silk fiber in a combed top that is the EASIEST silk to spin! It's a bulkier product and much shorter staple than all other silk products. This has a more wool-like feel and is a great way to start learning to spin silk.
Peduncle silk comes from the stem of a tussah silkworm cocoon. The stem, also called the peduncle, is the stalk the silkworm uses to attach itself to a branch. This is a by-product of a tussah silk production. I LOVE that it's now one of my favorite ways to spin up what used to be "waste" and now creates a lovely silk product! The luster and shine is a little less than tussah and mulberry silk, but is still there!
The gorgeous rich brown color is the natural color of the silk stems.
