Yep. Those are duck footprints. 🦆🧶🏴☠️

The Duck Pond Shawl was inspired by the footprints my Muscovy ducks left waddling through the snow outside my dye barn. And yes, those adorable little footprints ended up in a knitting pattern!

The prints travel right along the edge of this asymmetrical shawl, where you can actually see them when you're wearing it. The rest combines relaxing stockinette and garter stitch ridges for a shawl that's fun and interesting without being overly complicated.

And it's knit with my hand dyed Treasured Yak Toes Sock Yarn, a luxurious blend of merino, yak and nylon with gorgeous depth of color and a soft, drapey feel.

Designed in collaboration with Ellen of The Chilly Dog.

🦆 About Those Duck Prints...

Here's how this whole thing happened.

One snowy winter, I shared photos of the footprints left by my Muscovy ducks as they waddled around our homestead. They live here year round and, despite being perfectly capable of flying, would much rather wander back and forth between the barn and their pond.

My designer friend Ellen of The Chilly Dog saw those little prints and decided they HAD to become a shawl.

So we combined her design skills with my hand dyed yarn and the Duck Pond Shawl was born.

The duck footprint motif travels along the straight edge of the shawl, while stockinette and garter stitch ridges grow across the body. That means when you wrap up in your finished shawl, those adorable little footprints are right there along the edge.

Is it possibly THE BEST COMBINATION OF YARN & PATTERN IN THE HISTORY OF TIME?

I mean...I have ducks in the fight, but I think so. 🦆🏴☠️
