Fireside Bandana Cowl Kit

Knit A Long with the Sunflower Knitters' Association!

The Fireside Bandana is inspired by and created for cozy evenings spent by the fire with friends. Whether knitting or wearing it, this cowl is the perfect companion to a cozy evening.

Fireside is knit flat, top-down with easy slipped-stitch colorwork and tidy i-cord edges. It has a three-button closure at the back and carefully considered shaping which together create a flexible fit and truly effortless style.

Pattern designed by Carina Spencer. We will be knitting this gorgeous bandana cowl and wearing it to Knitting in the Heartland in Olathe, KS April 28-28, 2024.

KIT DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Knitting Needles (suggested size US 4 / 3.5 mm or size needed to get gauge)
Three buttons 1/2-5/8" / 1.5 cm round OR three toggles that are no more than 1" / 2.5 cm long & 3/8" / 1 cm in diameter at the widest part.

YARN DETAILS:
Organic, Merino Sport Treasures Yarn, 100% non-superwash fine merino wool, 20.5 micron count
Main Color 100 gram skein, 328 yards / 300 meters 
Two Contrast Colors 50 gram skeins EACH, 164 yards / 150 meters
Total yarn in kit: 200 grams, 656 yards / 600 meters
This yarn is NON superwash, which means it can felt. Hand wash gently in cool water with gentle wool wash. Do not agitate or twist/wring out. Squeeze water out, roll in towel to remove excess water, lay flat to dry.

GAUGE:
25 stitches & 44 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Woven Stripe Stitch, OR approximately 23 stitches & 35.5 rows = 4 " / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch 
To best check your gauge, make a swatch using the Woven Stripe Stitch provided in the pattern, but stockinette gauge dimensions are also given using same needle size.
The gauge swatch should be worked flat & measured after blocking. Stitch gauge is more important than row gauge for this pattern, so if you can't get both, use needle size that gives you accurate stitch gauge.

This listing is for ONE KIT of the Fireside Bandana, the completed pictures are to show you the cowl all knit up. Colors on all monitors/phones are different, I've done my best to capture the colors.
